your jumpy and a whole humpy

LEGO is perhaps the ideal toy. It fosters creativity, and from that creativity and freedom flow myriad works of breathtaking calibre. The LEGO fandom at its best is an incredible creative force, producing amazing works of scale and complexity beyond our wildest dreams, rendered lovingly in perhaps the most versatile childrens' toy there is.

That's not the part of the fandom we're here to celebrate.

This one's for the unintentional comedy the LEGO fanbase so often affords. The quirky, offensive, uneducated or otherwise unintentionally funny comments on forums and news sites alike. The fan art and writing of questionable calibre. The hastily slapped together MOCs. The senseless loldrama. And above all else, the people who take it all far, far too seriously. Ladies and gentlemen, here's to the very bottom of the barrel that is the LEGO fandom.

Now, if you're here looking for the really great stuff from the LEGO fandom, then you're probably looking for our other blog, the Solace of LEGOman Values. Alternatively, you're actually looking for any number of high-quality LEGO blogs, but hey, more doesn't hurt.

A side note: we (probably) don't hate you. We actually don't hate anything at all! We just find your words or actions really funny, and we're sharing the incredible mirth with the world.

This is PART 4 of COMIC 72 of Toa Piraka Hakann Comics.

There was a time in ArtIII when terrible comics would usually either improve or be quickly discontinued. I’ve noticed that that’s… not really a thing that happens anymore. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s because they don’t really have much incentive to get better. Back in the day, ArtIII was a thriving subculture on BZP, and everyone wanted to secure their place in it. Plenty of people would be driven to improve just by the unrealistic goals of joining “The Group” or the ICC or some MAS full of popular authors. Now most of the cool people have abandoned it, and there are only like two legitimately good series left, both of which update very infrequently and don’t get much attention. Now everyone’s standards are lower, and there isn’t much reason to improve. New comic makers aren’t looking at stuff like Generic Quest or Nuparurock’s Comics and thinking “I want to make stuff like that” - they see stuff like TPH’s comics as the average, acceptable quality of comic, and anything that isn’t painfully awful is impressive.

It’s kind of sad, really. I mean, ArtIII was certainly never consistently great or anything, but a lot of legitimately entertaining comics have come out of it in the past. And, you know, it was really just a fun place to be, what with the unique subculture and countless injokes resulting from it. The Lunacy probably wouldn’t even exist were it not for BZP comics, seeing as the three of us met there years ago and are now best of internet friends. That’s why it really sucks to see that ArtIII is pretty much dead for good now. =/
